Wingpubs is a restaurant directory website design and development project built for a Canada-based client — a dedicated platform that helps users find the best chicken wing spots in their city, complete with search, reviews, and detailed restaurant profiles.
Stack Decode built Wingpubs from the ground up as a custom web application — not a WordPress or Squarespace site, but a full SaaS-style platform on a modern JavaScript stack: a Next.js and Tailwind CSS frontend paired with a Node.js and MongoDB backend.
The platform focuses heavily on fast search and discovery, letting users filter chicken wing restaurants by city, browse individual business profile pages, and read reviews before deciding where to eat — all wrapped in a clean, fast-loading interface built for desktop and mobile.
Because Wingpubs didn’t exist yet, the challenge wasn’t fixing an old website — it was building an entire platform from scratch that could handle real-world directory functionality: fast search across many restaurant listings, individual profile pages for every business, a review system users could trust, and a backend the client could manage without needing a developer for every new listing.
The client needed a modern, scalable foundation from day one — something that wouldn’t need a full rebuild six months after launch as the directory grew from a handful of cities to many. That meant choosing a stack built for performance and growth, not just a website that looked good in a demo.

This platform was built to scale — the search and filtering system is structured to stay fast as the number of listed restaurants grows, and the admin dashboard means the client can manage new city launches and listings without waiting on a developer for routine updates.
A WordPress or Squarespace directory plugin could have gotten Wingpubs live faster, but off-the-shelf directory tools tend to slow down significantly once a site has thousands of listings and users searching and filtering at the same time. For a product built around fast local search, that trade-off wasn’t worth it.
Instead, we built the frontend in Next.js with Tailwind CSS for styling — giving Wingpubs server-side rendering for fast page loads and strong SEO out of the box, both important for a directory that depends on organic search traffic to bring users in city by city. The backend runs on Node.js with a MongoDB database, which handles search, filtering, and review data without the performance ceiling a typical plugin-based directory runs into as it scales.
Once Wingpubs launched, we didn’t step away. The platform runs on one of Stack Decode’s ongoing website maintenance plans, covering monitoring, updates, and technical support as the directory grows and new cities get added.
Stack Decode did an excellent job as Backend and Frontend Developers for our WingPubs project. Arjun handled Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and REST API development, while Richa implemented the Figma designs using Next.js and Tailwind CSS and integrated the APIs.
